About

I completed my clinical training in Melbourne and I have spent some of my life in Europe and the Middle East. I have worked in private and public health sector as well as in consultancy roles for many years.

I obtained a Graduate Diploma and a first Class Honours in psychology from University of Melbourne and RMIT. During this time I completed a thesis on the biomarkers of memory decline in Alzheimer’s disease with the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health.

I have a Masters in Arts from Swinburne University. I have conducted research on culture, and I completed a thesis on the historical and cultural factors influencing social change in Afghanistan. Later I undertook clinical training and received my registration as a psychologist by completing a Masters in psychology with the Cairnmillar Institute.

My desire has lead my clinical formation in psychoanalysis where I undertook psychoanalytic studies and undertook some of my training with the Australian Centre for Psychoanalysis. I have continued to work with supervisors, and academics from various psychoanalytic institutions from Melbourne and internationally.

Becoming a psychoanalyst has required a serious commitment to ongoing clinical supervision and many years of intensive and rigorous personal analysis with my own psychoanalyst and working with analytic supervisors on clinical material.

An interview I did recently in Melbourne, discussing Lacanian Psychoanalytic perspectives on well-being and personal growth.

Interests

Other than clinical work and desire in offering psychoanalysis, I enjoy creative writing and producing psychoanalytically inspired content for my creative blog and podcasts. As noted on each individual page, these accounts are not clinical pages. Nevertheless these pages are public and you are welcome to read them too. Please note that those pages are completely separate to the clinical treatment and consultations, which I offer at the Hawthorn practice. The best way to reach me is by ringing 0433781919 or reach out using my appointment page.

CPD

Barcelona Ethics Congress 2023: As a practicing psychoanalyst I regularly engage with the latest research in clinical psychoanalysis with colleagues from around the world.

Other than supervision and clinical study groups, I enjoy engaging with seminars from a number of different organizations including the Australian Psychological Society (APS). I have presented my work many times at the Australian Centre for Psychoanalysis (ACP) conferences and study days in Melbourne. I am up to date with Australian legal requirements for reports and I have skills to conduct assessments and prepare treatment reports for legal use. I am a fluent speaker of Persian and people can speak to me in this language if it is preferable for them. You can listen to an interview podcast with me on anxiety treatment in Farsi from SBS Persian.
